The STIHL FSA 400 is the first battery-powered clearing saw from STIHL. Designed for professionals working in landscaping and grounds maintenance, it has power output that is comparable to the FS 411 C-EM petrol clearing saw, and is best suited to clearing tough grass, shredding plant growth and felling small trees. The FSA 400 is battery powered – meaning it has low noise emissions, making it ideal for use in noise sensitive areas too. Fitted with a bike handle for comfortable working when taking on clearing jobs. The folding clamp makes it quick and easy to adjust the bike handle to the ergonomic position that suits you. The FSA 400 has a powerful EC motor and speed-adjustment on the control handle, which can be set at 3 different speed levels depending on the type of work you are doing. Automatic RPM adjustment helps with energy efficient work – the RPM increases to 6,900 when it is used with a BrushCut or PolyCut mowing head and reduces to 5,000 when used with the AutoCut head. The STIHL anti-vibration system reduces vibrations on the STIHL FSA 400, protecting your muscles and joints during use. The air filter on the housing ensures that the engine is kept cool during work, improving the service life of the clearing saw. It’s easy to remove and clean too. The FSA 400 comes with fitted with the AutoCut 46-2 line mowing head as standard but it can be fitted with a variety of other STIHL mowing heads, such as the TrimCut, DuroCut and PolyCut – plus, you can fit the FSA 400 with the GrassCut grass-cutting blade, BrushCut brush knife, ShredCut shredder blade and the WoodCut circular saw blade for tackling tougher challenges. The FSA 400 is IPX4 certified, meaning it can be used in all weather conditions. Durable components such as the sturdy battery casing design, stainless steel filter and large 28mm diameter aluminium shaft help cement this tool as the ideal choice for professionals. It also has a mounting point for the STIHL Smart Connector 2 A on the power tool housing.

When used in conjunction with a harness, the bike handle enables a smooth mowing action. The bike handle allows the machine to be easily guided, making it ideal for working on large areas and thus reducing fatigue.
FOR MORE PLEASANT WORK. Vibrations can occur when you put your tools through their paces, and these are particularly noticeable in the grip area. The buffer and spring elements of the STIHL anti-vibration system reduce the transmission of engine vibrations to the handle area and therefore to your body. The result is that your tool is more comfortable to hold and your work is much less tiring.
EASY ADJUSTMENT OF tool PERFORMANCE. Quickly and conveniently adjust the speed of your tool to the respective work situation. Doing so reduces energy consumption at low speeds, and in this way extends the battery runtime. The practical control handle with speed control allows you to make the relevant adjustment without having to change your grip or pause work.
OPTIMAL ENGINE COOLING. The air filter with fine metal mesh cleans the air and in this way ensures optimum engine cooling. As it is easy to clean, it also offers a long service life.
At the push of a button, the LED charge-level indicator will show the battery’s remaining capacity. This allows you to efficiently plan working hours and charge the battery in good time.
COMPATIBLE WITH THE SMART CONNECTOR 2A. You can mount a Smart Connector 2 A in the housing of the power tool at the dedicated position. Once installed, this connects to the control unit and transmits valuable power tool data to your smartphone, tablet or the STIHL connected Box that is within range. You can use the STIHL connected App and the STIHL connected Portal to view the STIHL connected gathered data and benefit from additional functions.
The HLA has a special eyelet for use with a shoulder strap.
MAXIMUM PERFORMANCE INCREASE. Thanks to intelligent electronics, STIHL power tools and batteries communicate with each other. If the device and battery are equipped with the POWER BOOST function, the battery always provides the maximum possible power for the respective application. In order to ensure optimum battery life, the device temporarily adjusts the power if it is used too intensively.
SPLASHWATER PROTECTION. The AP 200 S is IPX4 certified thanks to the encapsulated electronics and sealing of each individual cell. It means that the battery is protected against splashwater from all sides and can be used in rainy conditions.
